In a groundbreaking move, Wendy’s has partnered with DoorDash and Alphabet’s Wing to launch a pioneering drone delivery program in the U.S., starting in Christiansburg, Virginia. This innovative service allows customers to opt for drone delivery through DoorDash, where drones can reach speeds of 65 mph, delivering Wendy’s favorites like Baconators, Frosties, and chilli directly to their doorsteps via a tether system.
The drone delivery option is currently available for Wendy’s orders at 2355 N. Franklin Street, Christiansburg, serving customers within a 2.5-mile radius who have appropriate spaces for drone landing. DoorDash’s drone delivery in Virginia boasts a quick turnaround time of 10 to 30 minutes. The company is looking to broaden this innovative service to additional U.S. cities by year’s end, indicating a strategic expansion of their drone delivery capabilities.
DoorDash Labs’ Senior Director, Harrison Shih, expressed excitement over the integration of drone delivery into their service spectrum, emphasizing the anticipated benefits of increased efficiency, sustainability, and convenience in delivery services.
